Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Need to save electricity? No Problem!
I have noticed that the electricity portion of the Carbon Footprint Calculator may have brought people’s carbon footprint to a higher level. We, as a community can fix that though. We can use energy saving bulbs (compact fluorescent bulbs), turning off the lights when leaving a room, and unplugging electronics when not in use. All of these solutions can actually help you save money too. Electricity is one of the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. We burn fossil fuels to get electricity. An article for more information: https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/source … -emissions
When using CFL bulbs, the average person saves about $57 than using other types of bulbs. CFL bulbs are very efficient, and use less electricity than standard bulbs and also save a lot of money. Turning off lights is probably the easiest way to save electricity, when leaving a room you should just turn off the lights. Or if you have excess light turned on, shut it off if not in use. If the sun is shining outside, just crack open a window, and let natural light take over your ho use, saving plenty of electricity and money along the way. Unplugging electronics is a large contributor to high electricity bills. Even if an electronic is shut off, there is still an electrical circuit running through the plug and electrical socket, so the electricity is still being used in small amounts. These are some of the ways we can help save electricity, are there any other things you can suggest we do to save it?
