Recycling
What steps can we take to recycle when we're not at home. Before I stopped bringing water bottles to school, I would bring a lot of them and I would throw them away but not in a recycling bin because they’re wasn’t one. Our schools can help us recycle by having recycling bins or encourage a new way of recycling. So far our school has taken a step forward by replacing water fountains with hydration stations that are easier for us to refill our water bottles. What steps would you suggest for many schools including yours?
Hi, my name is Paulina and I live in Guatemala. I believe that the recycling process is a very important process all over the world. If we take this thing seriously I believe a change can happen. As you mentioned above, if you don't have recycling bins in your home, find different solutions such as bringing them to school.
Hi, I am from Guatemala, and in our school we have implemented the bins to recycle PET bottles. This has not been very efficient because students throw other types of things inside the bins, such as fruit peels and other waste that belongs in regular trashcans. Regardless, we still clean them up and recycle the bottles that we find in here. Most students do use water bottles, and the school is implemented with many water fountains so students can refill them as often as they please. This is a great step my school is taking towards reducing plastic bottle waste.
I live in Guatemala and here we are not used to recycling. I know it is really important but it is just not part of our culture. A way to start implementing it in our society should be by implementing it in the school by recycling water bottles. Even though recycling is important the best solution is to reduce as for recycling you need to use extra resources.
