Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Ashley D. My Carbon Footprint (North Carolina)

ashleyd16

My name is Ashley and I am 16 years old. I live in Mooresville, North Carolina in the United States. My total carbon footprint was 11,585 which is below the average for my region which is 15,918. Majority of my footprint came from transportation, with my score of 6,638 compared to the average of 4,184 in my region. My results were pretty much what I expected them to be. I knew that my driving would raise my transportation score because of how often I drive back and forth to places and how far I go. In the future I could try and drive less than I do now and not make so many trips back and forth.

Hi Ashley! Good job on getting below average for your region! Thats fantastic! Maybe you should drive less to get lower in that category...but other than that it's great that your footprint was low.
