Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Rachel H. My Carbon Footprint

440346

My Name is Rachel Hooker and I am seventeen years old. I am from Mooresville, North Carolina, USA. My total carbon footprint was 11,401 kgs. My total footprint was lower than the average. The most of my carbon footprint came from my home. My results were what I expected. I learned how much of an impact small things can really have on our carbon footprint. Some things I can do to decrease my carbon footprint is save more energy around the house such as turning lights off. Also I can try to use more energy efficient things such as lightbulbs and don't waste food as much.

I agree that small things can actually have a big impact on our footprint. Turning the lights off when you leave a room is a good way to reduce your energy use at home.

Hello, Rachél! Nice to meet you and hear about your carbon footprint. I agree with what you said about small things impacting the carbon footprints, little things like saving water when I brush my teeth made a huge difference.
