Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Global pollution levels are increasing at alarming rates. It has increased by 4x since 2000. In the United States alone, we are being harmed by our own carbon emissions. Over 131 million Americans live in areas exposed to dangerous levels of air pollutions, and 90% of the global population lives in areas with pollution high enough to harm your health. The a main cause behind all the pollution is the release of greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is released from the burning of fossil fuels in cars, planes, and power plants. I believe that using cleaner fuel, like biofuels and biodiesel, will reduce the amount of CO2 emissions. Using B100, a biofuel, carbon was reduced by 74% compared to a standard petroleum diesel. If every car owner in the United States replaced petroleum with, there would be a significant decrease in the carbon dioxide emissions from cars. A decrease would lower your carbon footprint, and reduce air pollutions. In the long run, the areas affected by smog and pollution will eventually become stable.
