Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Does Beijing have a smog free future
Beijing's air quality is un-breathable. The only way to ensure your health is wear a mask every time you go outside, but due to a recent inventions created by Dann Roosegaarde and his engineering team. The future of Beijing is looking a little brighter. Studio Roosegaarde is famous for its multiple public art projects from Flow to Lotus. Their philosophy is that people should stop rushing and enjoy the world around them. Their artwork has grown from fashion shows and moving cocoons to sustainable energy dance floors and solar powered road lights. Recently they set out to make the outdoors more enjoyable than ever by creating a tower that can filter the smog out of the air we breathe and capture it. The concept is like a giant vacuum, it sucks in the polluted air, removes the pollutants, and then releases the clean air back outside. When they send that clean air out of the tower, they keep the pollution and turn it into carbon based rings that they sell to fund th e project itself. The studio hopes to have enough funds raised to send towers to many places. So that soon enough we can all enjoy the great outdoors.
