Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Needs and wants determine a lot on carbon footprint. Needing something and wanting something are two totally different things. You need food and water to survive. You also need clothes in the winter so you are not frozen but you don't need 4 different pairs of snow boots. Just like in the summer you don't need 4 different pairs of flip-flops you need only one maybe two. Another example would be your phone. If you have a phone be happy with the one you have unless it is broken or doesn't work then it would make sense to get a new one. If you just want the new phone because your friends have the new phone you shouldn't get it because you don't need it you want it. We need to not want as much as we do right now because it is going to affect us later. We need to not purchase so many of our wants and just purchase the things we need.
