Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Wants vs Needs

I didn't realize how much I buy that I don't actually need. Like how I don't actually need a smart phone, but I think it's nice to have. I live with just a normal phone, like a flip phone or a slider. I also really don't need to buy new sweatshirts, but I happen to like sweatshirts way to much. I can honestly live without a lot of things I have, but it didn't come into perspective until I saw my score in purchases. Now I'm going to put the effort into not buying thing I honestly don't need.

If you really want something you can just go to a thrift shop. they have nice stuff and your reusing something so your purchases wont be too bad. It also helps due to it not having to go into a dump and cause more CO2 emissions. By shopping at thrift shops you are recycling which is good for the earth. Thrift shops normally have really good stuff and you can always donate which also helps the earth due to not going to the dump and all.
