Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon footprint

My footprint was actually lower than I thought it would be. I live about 14 miles from school and I drive myself there. My car gets 21 miles per gallon and I drive every day. I could ride the bus to reduce the pollution. I can’t really walk anywhere because I live in the middle of nowhere. My food was lower than average. It was low because we raise our own beef and pork. My purchases are low because I don’t upgrade phones every time a new phone comes out.

Maybe you should ride the bus sometimes. Or you can buy a electric car to reduce the pollution. But for the must part it sound great.
