Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint ( Mooresville, North Carolina, USA )
Hi! My name is Anna. I’m 14 years old and I’m from Mooresville, North Carolina, USA.
Here are my carbon footprint values :
Transportation - 14,676 kg (average for region - 4,184 kg)
Home - 6,949 kg (average for region - 6,148 kg)
Food - 2,194 kg (average for region - 3,636 kg)
Purchases - 471 kg (average for region - 1,950 kg)
Total Footprint - 24,290 kg (average for region - 15,918 kg)
My carbon footprint total was way above the average for my region. The majority of my carbon footprint came from transportation. I think this is because my family travels a lot using our cars. We frequently go on vacations and visit family all up and down the east coast. We also use our cars to get around to places nearby instead of public transportation, biking, or walking. My results were pretty much what I expected. I knew that my transportation would probably total the most, considering how much my family drives. I also expected my home to be around the average for my regio n, because my family only has four people, which is pretty common. To decrease my carbon footprint in the future, I can swap driving for other more eco-friendly modes of transportation, such as biking and walking.
