Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

I think you should fly plane less often to decrease your large footprint.

You could lower your carbon footprint by not flying so much.

Maybe you could rethink your choice of flying, by choosing a different type of transportation. However, if not you could decrease the amount you fly a year.

ashtoncrooks

you should cut down on flying

no murr flying

you can also use the footprint calculator to see the difference if if you take non-stop flights instead of making stops.  Is it worth saving $10 on your airfare if you burn that much more carbon in the process?  When you arrive near your destination (let's say you are on vacation to Europe with your family), do you transfer to a local airline and take yet another plane, or do you use a train or bus to get to your final destination or to travel around Europe?
