Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My carbon footprint

alvarog

My thougths about my carbon footprint are that i have to make something to reduce that because my results were a little big than the average of my country.
My result in the category of transportation were lower than the average and I'm proud of that because the transportation is one of the most pollutant thing in the world actually.
In the rest of the categories my results were higher than the average, specially in home and food.
To reduce the pollution that I create in home, I have to take action like use more natural light instead of have the bulbs and fluorescent of the house turned on a lot of hours per day.

Using natural light is a great alternative to use than constantly wasting energy by using light bulbs. Maybe try solar light to waste less energy and it is more efficient in the long run. Maybe replace your light bulbs with LED, which are more efficient than fluorescent.

Its good, if you want you can move to solar powered. Its efficient and a cleaner way. Its okay if they were a little bigger then the average just as long as you want to do something to fix that.

It is very impressive that you would like to change your Carbon Footprint. The action of not using transportation is smart and you should continue to do this.  Maybe turning off your lights and your water when you are not using them, will help you be more efficient in lowering your score!

using natural light is good it uses less energy and keep it low

bendo123

Yes I agree, using natural light more in the day time than fluorescent lights is a great way to reduce energy. I am glad that you see the issue of carbon that is in our atmosphere, and are willing to change your lifestyle just to help the atmosphere and Earth. Keep up the great work and a difference will be made by these changes!
