Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My name is Kylie, I’m from Mooresville North Carolina in the United States, and I am 14 years old. My total carbon footprint was 15,300 and that total is slightly below average. The majority of my carbon footprint came from food because of what I get to eat. My results were not as I expected, I was surprised the my purchase total was as low as it was. I learned some things bring more carbon than others, also that there are some simple steps you can take to reduce your carbon footprint. Within my future the ways I wish to reduce my carbon footprint would be the food I buy and what I eat. I want to try to walk more places than I ride so that I can reduce the footprint.
