Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon Footprint in the United States

jessicaxiao11

My total footprint was 6,254 kg of CO2 per year. Although this is less than the average of 10,370 kg, there are definitely areas that could be improved upon. For example, my air travel resulted in the carbon footprint for the Transportation section to be significantly higher than the average. This could be reduced by simply not flying as often. It's interesting to see how we impact the world, and most importantly, the methods in which we can impact the world positively.
