Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon footprint in the US

tiaharakey

MY carbon footprint doesn't seem to detrimental to the world, relative to those around me, at least. However, my use of transportation makes up for the majority of my carbon footprint and is nearly, I guess, 55x that of the average within my region. Although I'd like to attribute some of this to all of the driving that I do to school, work, and social events, I have no doubt that all of the traveling I've done this summer is responsible for the majority of that make-up. If I hadn't taken so many trips by plane, especially those which are so far and require multiple flights, my carbon footprint would be significantly lesser.
