Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon Footprint in the US
My carbon footprint turned out to be 15,870, which is well over the average of 10,370 for an average resident of Beaverton, Oregon. Transportation played a big role in this. I took many flights in 2016 for vacation, so this significantly affected my carbon footprint. I believe that if these flights were removed, my carbon footprint could have gone a lot more down. Besides that, my carbon footprint for the other sections were less than average, except for food, which was 1000 higher possibly due to the fact that my family wastes a lot of food.
Not bad, not bad
Hi Jon, you can use the calculator (if you saved your data) to go back and see exactly how much your footprint would go down if you took fewer flights per year.
Walk more bud!! You'll get that carbon footprint down!!!! I was once in your place ![]()
What are some other ways you can reduce your footprint?
