Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

MY CARBON USE

niklasr

I was quite surprised that my carbon use was so high. I never knew how much of an effect my consumed calories would have on my overall carbon footprint. I think by reducing my consumption of unnecessary calories I can greatly reduce my carbon footprint. Additionally, reducing my transportation would be quite helpful.

What are your unnecessary calories.

Reducing transportation is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. Maybe try walking or biking to the close areas around you.

I was also surprised that my carbon use was so high. My transportation was over the roof because there are four children in my family and we drive a lot.

My carbon footprint is very high as well. I agree reducing transportation is a great way to cut down emissions, but also eating lower calorie foods such as vegetables and drinking more water to stay less hungry helps. Eating less meat which is high in calories also will help when it comes to consuming fewer calories to reduce the carbon footprint.
