Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

I usually think of myself and my family as being pretty eco-friendly, but my carbon footprint still seemed quite high. A huge contributor to my footprint was the airplane travel I do.

I was also surprised by the amount of effect air travel had on my carbon footprint. My house is also old but my dad went around and changed some of the types of light bulbs, water heater, regular heater we use when we remodeled our house to make our house more environment friendly.     If you put look up the average American uses up 19 tons of carbon dioxide per airplane ride.
