Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

brandonf

Hello my name is Brandon Frith and I am a student at Bishop O'dowd High school in Oakland California. My Carbon footprint horribly exceeds the California average which is 9,727 and my carbon footprint is 45,898. I am positive that my footprint is so big because of all the flights I took last year. This has brought to my attention how badly flights affect my Carbon Footprint.

I think the best solution is to cut down on flights for the time being.  Maybe take a drive to somewhere instead of flights.

Brandon, I think a solution can be to find different was to fuel flight for the future to help with our environment, jet fuel is very inefficient and is dirty.  Like what is happening in China right now, people are relying on coal, and automobiles, now the air is so dirty and infected people cannot even go outside for a few seconds.
