Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

LuKe_PfeifFeR

Hello I am Luke Pfeiffer and I am a student from Bishop O’dowd High School in Oakland California. I recently calculated my carbon footprint and it totaled to around 7,985. I was wondering if this is a reasonable and acceptable footprint considering that the average is around 9,727, but even if I am below average is it a world friendly footprint.

I don't think that's the normal amount to be used

I am not totally sure what is the normal/ acceptable amount is so is there anyway to find out or how to know. Or do you know the acceptable amount to not effect the environment negatively?

what you are doing is effecting the world negatively. I suggest you use less carbon and starting walking more to save more

I think that it is good you are thinking about the amount of carbon you are releasing, and you should continue to try to lower your emissions because right now, the whole population is giving off too much CO2, and so the averages are higher than they should be. I think you are doing well to be keeping your carbon footprint as low as it is, but if the worlds carbon levels weren't at an all time high, then your levels could be above or closer to average which means that if you want to be releasing less than the average person from your area, then you should try to give off less.
