Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

1508837

Hi, my name is Jared, I’m 14, and from Mooresville, North Carolina in the United States of America. My carbon footprint total was 24,040 which took me by surprise especially because it was way above the average. However, my carbon footprint for home, food, and purchases was significantly less than the average while the majority of my high carbon footprint came from transportation which was 19,461. My transportation was so high due to airfare in which I spent 36 hours on a plane in 2016 although it was a once in a life time trip to China. On another note I can decrease my carbon footprint by turning off all of my electronics when I am done using them and buy more local and organic food. The knowledge that I gained is that everyone produces carbon and that it is up to ourselves to decrease or even eradicate it.
