Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

My carbon footprint compared to my classmates seems very high. My transportation category was to blame because it was almost 16,000. The rest of my categories were pretty close which surprised me most in purchases. I thought I shopped a lot but I guess my classmates do too. My total was 24,943 and this was far above average for my class. I can't really say I was surprised after seeing my transportation total. I learned that I probably need to have different methods of getting places like walking or riding a bike.

Both of our high scores are caused by house use. To lower this we should stop using as much energy.

My total carbon footprint was above average as well because we use so much energy on house use.

My total carbon footprint was above also because I travel so much
