Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

porter-brianna77

My carbon foot print was exceptionally low compared to the ones in my class and my region. My total was 8,265, my highest consumption of carbon falls into the transportation category which was 2,943, while my lowest falls into purchases which was 529. To reduce my carbon footprint i can use as less transportation by walking or car pooling with other people and only go out when needed. My carbon footprint is low in the North American region but compared to other parts of the world is high and this is because of my access to resources because many people in Africa or the middle east do not have many of the resources i have access too, they make do with what they have. I will try to make an effort to reduce my carbon foot print by turing off the lights when not being used and also by turning off electronics when not being used.
