Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint
I notice that my carbon footprint was low in all categories expect for the transportation category. I never thought about how much flying influenced my footprint. Other than that, the rest of my footprint was pretty good. My purchases were super low because my family and I don't buy things we don't need.
I was below average in every category, just because I haven't flown anywhere in the past year. I saw how greatly flying affected my classmates carbon footprint and it was very surprising. They could be below in every category but go over the average just because of flying. This will definitely make me rethink flying for vacations because it's hurting our planet. I agree with you though, before this I had never thought about how much flying really hurts our carbon footprint.
The majority of my carbon footprint is below average except for food, which is about average. I've almost never gotten the chance to fly outside of my state due to money issues, but I guess that may have been for the best. Transportation through flight seems to really send me over the average person if I were to just say 1 or 2 flights per year.
Most of my footprint was above average, except for food and purchase, which is more easy to control personally. Home was high but I think that mostly just had to do with being in a family of 5, having a large home, and living in a colder region that means needing more heat. As far as travel, this was high because I went on vacation in this past year, to really increase the amount.
I also noticed that my carbon footprint was extremely high due to transportation. I travel long distances often, and I was actually unable to take all my flights over the past year into account while calculating my footprint. I am trying to find alternatives to flights, and I will also try and conserve energy while in other countries both to make up for the emissions of this flights and as a common courtesy.
It is good that your carbon footprint is low. To reduce transportation you should fly less and drive a fuel efficient car to places instead.
Most of my footprint comes from transportation too but mine is mostly from riding in a car.
Transportation seems to have the biggest impact on the carbon footprint of most people. We do not realize how much energy and pollution is caused by our amount of transportation until we put it into a numerical value like this project did.
My transportation was high also and I think everyones is a little higher than the average because vacations and getting to and from school, etc.
My carbon foot print was extremely low compared to others in my area, and i calculated all of my footprint accurately. An idea to lower your footprint besides working on your transportation can be taking care of your electronics and turning them off.
