Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My carbon footprint

SofiaC

My carbon footprint was significantly lower than the average in my region. For transportation I had a score of 311 (it was my lowest score), which is very low compared to the 4,184 point average in my region. For my highest score I got 5,126 for my home. To reduce my home carbon number even more I can replace all my light bulbs with ones that are more ergonomic and good for the environment. My total carbon footprint was 8,812 which is very low compared to the 15,918 in my region. Compared to other parts of the world however, my score was actually higher. Its because I live in a developed country where I have many resources. I plan on trying to reduce my score for each section (transportation, home, food, purchases).
