Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Comparing Carbon Footprint from Florida, USA
Hello everyone,
My name is Hillary. I'm from Florida, United States and currently attend St. John's River State College. When I did this Carbon Foot-printing activity, I was excited and interested in what my results would be in the end. I tried my hardest to be as truthful as possible and my results kind of shocked me a bit. It was interesting to see how the littlest things such as the amount of trash bags and the length of a shower can affect my carbon footprint.
My results include:
Transportation: 4155 kg.
Home: 16096 kg.
Food: 3241 kg.
Purchases: 379 kg.
Well, with living with three other people these results do make lot of sense. I just have to make sure I shut off and unplug all electronics when they're not being used.
That is interesting! Our results are kind of switched around. My transportation score is 12,416 kg and my home is in the 4000's. I only live with my mom, which is probably why my home score is so low, and since you said you live with three other people that makes a lot of sense! What do you do to keep your transportation score so low? Do you walk and ride a bike places, or do you just not go many places? I need to get mine down! I do drive a lot, so that is probably the issue.
Your home , over average . but yeah just start cutting things off , more and use things less
I think that is great that your in college, And tour doing a great job keeping your carbon footprint low.
Hello, your carbon footprint is a very good one. You do a lot of at home activities.
I typically make sure everything is off in every room in my house. I also only live with one other person
Overall your carbon footprint is pretty good! Your home carbon amount is pretty high. Try to unplug things when you aren't using them and turn off lights and fans when you leave a room. Try and take shorter showers. Also, try to use compact fluorescent light bulbs instead of LEDs. LEDs may be cheaper, but CFLs will last longer and help our environment.
