Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Reducing one's Carbon Footprint by Eating the Proper Foods

laurah_usa

Sometimes even the food that we think are part of a healthy diet, end up being terrible for you because they're terrible for the planet we live on. Carbon emissions can be reduced by purchasing and eating the proper foods. It is best to purchase and eat locally grown and organic produce because not only are you supporting local businesses, you're one step closer to reducing your carbon footprint! Another efficient way of reducing your carbon footprint is to cut out beef and dairy products. The land that these cows graze on is a sad reminder of what it used to be, a beautiful forest perhaps. When these lands are cleared for agricultural use, it is known as deforestation; a top contributor to harmful carbon emissions and climate change.
