Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

40% Is About $165 Billion!!
Do we really need all of the food that is produced and bought Globally? I was recently reading an article by the Washington Post, and I read that the U.S.A alone wastes 40 percent of all food bought. That’s not even including food that is produced and never bought. So, I guess my point it to try to raise awareness especially to my fellow Americans to try and be more aware of how much food you are actually wasting. Food produces a lot of carbon when it is grown. Especially meat from animals like cow and pigs.
I have been a sous chef for quite some time. It would blow your mind to know that in every restaurant and in every food distribution company they have an amount of food they can write off as waste at the end of the year. Restaurants sell meals by food cost. They try to keep it under 25-40 percent. There is waste in prep, cooking, and in dining at a restaurant. .
