Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

CO2 Dilemma

meganlLLHS

Climate change is an evolving issue all around the world. In Bill Nye's video, Climate 101, he addresses the fact that the atmosphere is mostly made up of CO2 and methane. Now this isn't a bad thing until  the CO2 level rises to the point where it is soaked into vegetation and the ocean. The reason why this is bad is because it kills the sea life and life on land. Not only does it kill animal life, but it also causes a rise in temperature. With both the temp and the pollution in the water rising the earth is in great danger.
One of the largest causes of CO2 pollution is automobiles and transportation sources. According to my carbon footprint challenge says that on average, every person in my region ( The United States) pollutes about 2,557 kg of CO2 per year. To prevent this as a planet, we can rise bikes and walk more places. Along with carpooling and using more public transportation. The reason why this will help prevent the CO2 pollution is because walking and riding your bike only gives CO2 by you breathing out, and carpooling and public transportation will help b ecause it will give out just as much CO2 when it is transporting one person and when it is transporting 2 or more. Overall we should be working towards a lower carbon footprint and an easy way to start is through our transportation.
