Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Footprint
My carbon footprint was roughly five times the size of the average American. I was extremely shocked at how high my number was. I would always try to put my waste in the right bins, and try not to waste food. But I soon realized that there is much more to it than that. For me, the biggest source of carbon dioxide was transportation. I took eight flights last year, and I just recently discovered the average person doesn't even take one flight per year. I hadn't understood what privilege I have. I also discovered that the average carbon footprint varies extremely on where you live. The average american's carbon footprint was sizably larger than most other countries. I believe that Americans, as a whole don't always try there best to make a cleaner world. To try and stop this, I believe that Americans should try riding their bikes more often, or try taking the bus, or even something as little as splitting cabs. Because even the smallest difference can make a huge change if enough people follow.
I was thinking the same about where people live. Not just what region or country but how close you live to your school or friends can have a big effect. I never really thought about how much I was going place to place till now.
I thought mine would be a bit below average because I didn't think about how everything I did matters. I was pretty surprised with my results because they were a lot more than I expected. Mostly because of how much I go places.
I can't believe you got 5 times the average American. I took 4 flights last year and my carbon footprint was lower than the average American. There must have been another reason why it was so high.
I can't believe u take 8 flights and i haven't took one
wow thats allot of flights but that is very good that you try not to waste food
I agree because my footprint is also high. Just like you I do my recycling, I try not to use extra electricity, and I do my best to not let things keep running.
I agree because my footprint is also very high and thats lots of flying
I do believe that Americans have an extremely high carbon footprint as a whole and we should be trying to lower it. It is kind of crazy that you got 5 times higher than the average.
I agree, Americans need to come together to take better care of our environment and the things in it.
That is a lot of flights! We do need to come together and keep our environment cleaner.
my waste was very low because i recycle and my family we eat left overs when my mom does not cook and i our community is very bad
