Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Eating Right

benjaminsusa

After calculating my carbon footprint,, I found that when it comes to eating and food, the amount of CO2 I give off, 3,821, is nearly 1,000 points more than that of the average resident of the US, 2,996. Now this could be due the fact that I consume a fair amount of red meats, carbs, or various junk foods. So, what is my solution to all this?  A diet that has less sweets, carbs, and junk. Instead of snacking on a bag of chips, I'll just grab a fruit cup. Next time I eat out, I'll make a meal off of a vegetarian dish. These are small things that, but, in the long run, they'll be better for both myself and the environment.
