Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Technology: Is it a want or need?
I feel that in some cases yes, different types of technology can be wants, such as cars, smart phones and television. These are all things humanity wouldn’t need to function properly. you don’t need a car to get from place to place, you don’t need to have your smart phone with you at all times, and you especially don’t need to be sitting in front of your TV all day. Eliminating some of the wanted types of technology could possibly make humans more productive than we already are. Although there are some types of technology that are needed for humans to survive in this hostile world, such as medicines, housing and possibly weaponry. Having medicines to cure people of infectious diseases lowers the risk of death for many. Having available housing for people protects them from the elements and dangerous predators. Having weaponry available can be used to protect against said predators.. There are many types of technologies today that most people can live without, and I believe it’s important to keep the ones that make us more productive and help us survive as a species around for just a bit longer.
