Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Unplug the TV

miccomLLHS

Many modern homes today contain a vast amount of electronic appliances used daily. This high amount of electricity being used and result in very high amounts of CO2 emissions being released into the atmosphere daily by millions of people. People across the US also rely a lot on electronics for entertainment purposes, instead of using other methods to entertain themselves. I have two solutions to fix this. Many people are going to have to unplug from their electronics and find different ways of being able to entertain themselves, such as playing outside, reading a good book or just going out with friends. Another solution one could consider is installing solar panels or some other alternate form of power besides fossil fuels, gas and electricity.
