Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Transportation can be more efficient!
As I was calculating my carbon footprint and answering questions about transportation, I realized that I can be so much more efficient. Obviously if you are taking a flight somewhere, you can't control how many much Co2 emissions are released. You can still be more efficient by either getting a car with better mileage or not even taking the car. I ride my bike most days to school and so do a lot of others. This helps drastically and helps the environment too. When you take a car, a lot of CO2 emissions are released and alternative ideas will help.
If you cannot find a way to get to places without a car, try fitting as many people in a car as possible. If you have a neighbor who goes to the same school as you and you both go in different cars, try taking one car and carpooling. Even one less car on the road will reduce the regular release of emissions, and carpooling is fun! The environment can be cleaner and free of excessive CO2 emissions f you can take that extra step.
