Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Reducing transportation

nityab

Yes, some people have high transportations footprints because they fly a lot, but there is a way to reduce this by carpooling when driving. You can not only carpool, but you can also use more public transportation. By using more public transportation, we can reduce the amount of carbon emissions as well as reduce the number of cars on the roads. Sometimes it is hard to carpool. Another thing that you can do is by investing in a hybrid or electric car. This would be a long term process because it is a huge purchase, but at the same time you will be using less gasoline and be getting better mileage. This is definitely something to think about if you drive long distance to and from work and or school.
