Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My distance to school

remingtonwood

I found that when I did my carbon footprint my emissions from transportation were the highest, this does not surprise me though because I have always known that the distance I must travel to reach school is significantly larger than the average person. I attend a school by choice that is a very large distance from where I live, it is exactly 29.9 miles from where I live. This realization has made me realize how much simply driving to school can impact what you are really doing to the world. I realize that it would be much better for the planet if I just went to school in the city I live in, but that is not an option for me right now. Instead I something I do to help as much as I can is that I carpool with 5 other people that live in my area and go to the same school as I do. In the future I would also like to get a car that produces a low amount of carbon output so that I can go further in the fight to help the planet as much as I can.
