Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Im a 16 year old teen, and i really care of our environment so we can a have a better life. I try to clean and throw garbage away so there is less contamination, I also try to not waste too much energy at home like using too much electronics or turning lights on and also trying to walk more so i dont use a car or a bus, i know these are all good ways, but is there more?, and which one is the best method?

Have you looked at your food footprint?  That is often a very big contributor to peoples' footprints.  Igf you eat meat and dairy, eating less of it will have a significant impact.  Also, a big contributor to home footprint is washing and drying clothes.  During the dry season hanging clothes to dry can make a big difference, as can washing clothes in cold or warm water if possible.

I agree with Jason,  I did the carbon footprint calculator, and food and travel are usually the largest contributing fact to carbon footprints. Especially if you eat lots of meat and dairy on a daily basis.
