Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Total Footprint was 12,608kg. So with my Carbon Footprint being 12,608kgs its telling me that I am below the total average of my region which is 15,918kgs .The Majority of my Carbon Footprint was from my transportation. I was surprised when I saw that my transportation was so large because we don't have a car but I usually go out with friends almost once a weekend and going to and from school every week and also going to and from church every Wednesday and Sunday. I was also surprised when I saw that my transportation average was higher than my home average because there are  three of us living in my home but I guess its understandable since I travel more than I think in one week. So while doing this Carbon footprint project throughout these two or three weeks I learned that my footprint is really different from my regions which I expected but, I didn't think that my footprint would be different in areas like Ho me, and Food. But I guess for future actions I would consider going out with friends less each weekend and week.  And maybe turn off things when they are not being use around the house.

Hi Jewl , I really enjoyed reading your results on your footprint! Your footprint is much lower than mine! Your footprint is very interesting. A low footprint is good footprint. Great Job!

Jewel, your explanation of your carbon footprint was really well written. I can tell you did your research and thought logically on why your footprint was the way it was. My carbon footprint was also lower than the total average regional footprint and the majority of my footprint also came from transportation. Like you I travel outside of school and to and from school everyday. My Jeep is not the most economically efficient vehicle but it still gets me places and I love it. Great work on your project!
