Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Pescatarian?

mrclean101

Not everyone can drop meat, I'm aware of that. But maybe more people could try to become pescatarian? Pescatarian means that the only meat you consume is fish. I, myself, being a pescatarian, find that a lot of fish can substitute meat like beef, pork, or chicken. Ocean fisheries also have a smaller economical impact. Maybe try it. Thoughts?

As much as I love fish and would totally try it, I just can't give up meat, Seriously I'm eating beef jerky right now.

I would not give up meat

mrclean101

Fish is meat. You couldn't give up beef pork or chicken.

rolands

Fish are extremely healthy for you and provide extremely high protein and fats at little economic and carbon cost. Other meats like turkey are also considerable as they are more efficient and lean then some meats such as pork or beef.

samshultz

I mean, people actually need that as a part of there diet. You cannot convert me. I am eating beef jerkey as I type this soooo.....

I eat salmon somewhat often, and I only really eat meat other than salmon about 1-3 times a week, I'd say that's a normal amount and more people should  try eating fish, I don't think we should give up meat entirely, only lower how much we eat it.

rolands

I think that is the point of pescatarianism ^

MEAT IS GOOD TO GET IRON , PROTEIN, AND VITAMINS

mrclean101

It is proven that people do not need meat in their diet, in fact eating more meat throughout your life can increase your risk of heart disease. There is proof that vegetarian/pescatarian people and their meat-eating counterparts are just as healthy and have the same amount of nutrition. So if you're going to bring up the argument that people "need" meat to survive, it will be disproven.

samshultz

Look it up

samshultz

It is a fact. This aint fake news bro. This is real. People DO need meat in there diet.
