Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Should Nuclear Fusion be developed more to be a new potential energy source?

clairejunkins

Nuclear fusion is the idea of taking the energy released from fusing atoms together and using it. It's consists of having specifically two hydrogen atoms be fused together using extreme heating and electricity. The fusion is similar to our sun due to it creating larger molecules and creating different elements by combining different atoms together. This type of energy source has zero carbon emissions or even require any to little fuel at all. It even produces about roughly four times more energy than the amount that splitting Uranium atoms generates. Though, many argue that to get this type of zero carbon emission energy it isn't worth the risk of radioactive waves or the money it will take to create the machinery needed. It seems like this is never really considered or discussed for energy sources but maybe it's something that should. What are your thoughts on this matter? (No pun intended)
