Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Wants or Needs
There is a lot of conflict between whether we NEED something or whether we WANT something. To simply sort it out think about your life without the certain thing. First of all do we NEED a filtered water system. Without clean water we would be sick and without water at all we would be dead. So the filtered water system is a need. What about the iphone?. What about cell phones at all? We don't need them! Without them we can still use email, a landline, or even meet up with people and talk to them face to face! Think about it. Ipads, iphones, computers, fancy shoes, fancy clothes, almost everything we use isn’t necessary. The only technology we need is a car because some distances are hard to travel on foot. But we only need one of them. If you have an “addiction” to having new things or being on your phone, you don’t get an excuse. But you do get tips! Try talking with your friends instead of texting them for a phone addiction. For a new things addiction try keeping the items you already own super clean and new looking so you don’t have to buy fancy items!
