Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

Kayla36

My name is Kayla. I am from Mooresville, North Carolina. I'm 14 years old, and my total Carbon Footprint was 11,725 kgs. It is below average. Most of my carbon footprint was from transportation. I didn't think that the most of my carbon footprint will be from transportation because I usually walk to school and home. What surprises me the most is that my Home Footprint was lower because my brother always leaves multiple lights on for hours, and takes about an hour shower a day. I learned to use less electricity, turn off the lights my brother leaves on, use public transportation more, and don't go to the store every day unless it is important.
