Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

I calculate my carbon footprint and THIS happens *not clickbait*

Welp, I had to do this, so I figured out I'd have some fun while at it. I'm from Spain (5 points to whoever points out who my classmates are just by looking at previous posts) and my name is *insert generic spanish name* ONLINE PRIVACY! (or more like, "my name is ugly as sin").
After calculating my carbon footprint twice, I decided to go with the lowest one (hehe) mostly because it was calculated with information I didn't have the first time around. As I was saying, my footprint is 5666 kgs (1000 more and it'd have been hilarious) and, while it's lower than the average value here in Spain, I still think it's way too high. Fortunately, there were some things keeping this value from going any higher, like the fact that I despise watching TV and that my house needs no heating up in winter (nor in summer, duh!).
Still, I believe I could do without overusing the air conditioner (though my bro is the one to blame here) or eating that much meat (fruit is such a drag to eat...). On the other hand, I'm pretty proud of the fact that I don't buy that many electronic devices or cl othes (in fact, I bet I could use the same clothes for years, 'cause I'm sure as heck not growing any taller... sad indeed) and that I mainly move around my city by foot (thank Pokémon Go for that... Oh, how I hate that game, it destroyed my life, yet I keep playing it).
I guess that's that, I hope it wasn't that big of a pain to read.... "this" thing. Thanks for reading through, and I hope you have some well-deserved fun today!

Hi, my name is Jessica. My carbon footprint is actually a lot higher compared to yours. I don't buy that many electronic devices either. I think its cool that you walk around to get to different places. I usually get a ride from someone to take me wherever. Maybe you could use the AC less to lower your footprint, but other than that, I think your carbon footprint is pretty good.

My carbon footprint was a lot higher than yours.  I think it's interesting how different places don't use cars or transportation and can bike or walk to most places. That seems like such a cool thing to have a community like that where everything is close and within walking distance. Also people seem to be more friendly with each other and I wish many more countries would be like that.

I agree with Taylor! If many communities had places where they were walking distance from your home could make a difference in many footprints!
