My Carbon Footprint (Mooresville, NC, USA)
Hello, my name is Jamie! I’m sixteen and live in Mooresville, North Carolina, in the United States of America. I’m a junior (11th grade) that currently goes to Mooresville High School.
My carbon footprint has a total of 48,630 kg. My carbon footprint is well above the 15,918 kg average for North Carolina and also well above the 3,791 kg average worldwide. The majority of my carbon footprint comes from Food, averaging about 26,698 kg.
My reaction was surprised because I thought the highest category would be Transportation (17,158 kg) and not Food considering I drive my car everywhere from going out with friends to just going to school. I did learn that I am eating more much than I actually am.
The future actions I could take to reduce my carbon footprint would be maybe carpool with friends to school or if we go out to do something. I will not be able to change my diet anytime soon though. Maybe when I’m older and don’t eat as much my footprint will be reduced more.
