Hello from North Carolina
Hi! My name is Ian, and I attend Mooresville High School in Mooresville North Carolina. I am 16-years-old and am currently a third-year high school student (junior). The carbon calculator was an interesting project for me. It gave a visual representation of my impact on the environment and made me consider how to make my life friendlier towards it. My carbon footprint total was 31, 484kgs, which was way over average for my region. The factor that made my footprint skyrocket so much was my transportation section, which was 20,519kgs. This was due to multiple flights I took to and from Europe throughout the year. I thought my highest value was going to be home, due to our house being quite large and the amount of electronics we have around the house. This project could be quite beneficial for our planet if everyone spent the time to find out their carbon footprint and then took steps to reduce it. My carbon footprint could have been reduced by a lot if I refrained from traveling so much and unplugging the electronics around the house that consume a lot of power.
I thought my footprint would be similar to yours but it was way less. Definitely seems like fun but try to cut back a little on flights.
I had the same problem with traveling back and forth from Europe. Compared to the other categories my traveling was definitely the highest as well.
