Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Hi, I'm Trey

trey4

My carbon footprint is 18,159. The highest section for mine was purchases and this is probably because I don't like to buy used clothes. My carbon footprint is above the average which is not good.

How high is your purchase? Even if you buy new clothes, there is a good chance that it is not the majority of all other sources.

paxtonavery15

Maybe start buying some used clothes, they aren't that bad, and most you can get are just comfy lay around the house clothes, then get your brand items new from the mall.

Timmyd1

I am in the same boat as you I like to buy all my clothes brand new also.

Chianti

I think that you should buy a minimum of used clothes because your footprint is over the region which is not good

Halle

I think you can try to buy used clothes

jaqualen38

You don't have to buy used cloths but you should try to cut down on how many you get

tyler_345

Buying used clothes isn't such a bad thing, especially since shopping for them, sometimes you can find some new ones marked down a lot lower than regular price.

ryliecheer11

Buying new clothes isn't that bad, but there are some other things you can do to help save from making so many purchases. You can go to some clothes from maybe a thrift shop which makes things much cheaper and you could also borrow a family members or your friends clothes so they look new but your actually just borrowing them.

ice25

I'm almost like you when I don't like to buy used clothing but if I have to to lower my carbon footprint I will.

drewg

Just because you went over the average isn't bad it just means that you were higher than the average of all the people in the area, just maybe start to buy used clothes

It's good you recognize that something needs to change. But how can this project be beneficial to you? I'd like to see more of what you learned during this project.
