Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint - CB MHS

calebbrawley

Hi i'm Caleb, and i'm from Mooresville North Carolina. Im 15 years old.
Im happy with the fact that we started the carbon calculator, it really shows me how much i take for granted and how much i could really save. My carbon footprint total was 11,591 kgs. My carbon footprint total was a little under average. My highest area in my footprint was home, I think the reason for this is because we use a lot of gas powered tools in are home and we leave a lot of are electricity on, we also use are heating system and leave it on for 7 months out of the year. Which Is a little above average. I thought my highest footprint was going to be transportation because we do a lot of driving each day going to sports and to school and activities even though these places are fairly close to us. It wasn’t my highest, which I did not expect.  I really think that if you took the time to do your carbon footprint and each person did this you could change the way people think about what th ey use and how they could do better. I could reduce my carbon footprint by maybe car pulling more often and using more electric powered tools instead of emitting gases into the air.

Hi Caleb, I think you should try to use other things to heat and your home.

Hi Caleb, my transportation is smaller than your transportation because I travel less.

I think you could lower your transportation by traveling less.

I think you could save energy by going outside and using less home items more.

I think you should try not use as much heat and not travel as often.

Chianti

hi Caleb, i think that maybe you shouldn't use heat as much as you do

Hey Caleb, I totally agree with you when you say you could use less heat because that'll help make you home total go down!

Nosidnarg

Caleb, I think that you should use less heat as a start to cut down your total footprint

jourden96

Caleb i think you should open your window to save energy

eragland1

My carbon footprint was 22,007 because my transportation was extremely high, like you thought yours would be.

Gabbyz

I think its good that you decided to use less heat to try to lower your footprint

i agree that carpooling could help a lot, also using less heat is a super good idea because on mine that’s what made the home section so high.
