Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Hydia's Carbon Footprint

437605

My name is Hydia, I am 15 years old, Im from Mooresville, NC, USA were I attend at Mooresville High School. All of the science departments in our school had to make a Carbon Footprint, which is helping us measure and calculate our own Carbon Footprint. Below I have provided my results for my personal Carbon Footprint.

Transportation: 664kgs
Home: 4365kgs
Food: 3746kgs
Purchases: 675kgs
Total: 9450kgs

My results were really low , maybe because I don't really drive anywhere. I walk almost everywhere I go. I kind of knew my food would be slightly larger, because I eat a lot of food, day by day. In conclusion I'm glad I found this out while I was young and not when Im older so I can try to save up on the things I do.

It is good that you walk to lower your carbon footprint! Also, it is good to save up the money and not spend it on things you don't need. good job!

Walking instead of driving is a great way of producing less carbon.
