Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon Footprint
Hello, my name is Gabriel and attend high school in California, United States. There are a vast amount of different answers for different student's carbon footprints around the world. Perhaps these answers may vary by the region in which they live in, due to the different needs a person may have in a particular area compared to someone else living farther away. My carbon footprint was 13,490 kgs of CO2 per year (while the average kgs of CO2 used per year in California, United States is 9,727 kgs). I plan to use the calculator to reduce my footprint to make is equal to or lower than the average amount kgs of CO2 used in California, United States (9,727 kgs). Last year I had taken two round-trip flights from California to Canada (which is about 4.5-hour trip, traveling 1,468 miles or about 2362 km through the duration of one flight). Due to the fact I took 4 flights in total, my transportation factor in the footprint calculator was the biggest and most impactful section to raise my overall carbon footprint. (My Transportation used up 6,017 kgs of CO2 in total while my regi onal average was 2,557 kg of CO2). I plan to decrease my overall carbon footprint amount by being aware of my transportation, and its usage (and amount of kgs of CO2) as I plan to shift towards walking, running and biking during short trips, (rather than using gas and emitting harmful CO2 into our atmosphere).
