Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

A More Innovative Transportation System

ellisj21

Cars are obviously a big problem for our environment as they are constantly releasing Co2 in the atmosphere. A good way to limit the damage of so many cars, is to create more bike paths in public areas. These bike paths can influence to want to bike more because they have a route they can take to get around. Using bikes is not only great for the environment, but also great for staying in good health and being fit.

I agree with you and I think that whenever possible public transportation should be used and be used as a resource not as a last resort. I also believe that the idea of carpooling should be used more widely for example, going to school and other group events.

I also agree with you. I believe the use of non-gas vehicles lowers the CO2 concentrations in the area. I bike as much as I can, as I love to bike and as well, don't want to use a gas car which pollutes the area.

I agree with what you say, Joe. Cars are huge polluters and contribute massive amounts of Co2 to the atmosphere. Bikes are a great idea, as they are powered by humans, not using any gasoline or fuel. More bike paths would cut down on pollution that the cars make just going to school or around the block.
